A pair of seminars next month will examine changes in the health-care industry.
The program is intended for health-care employees in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices and home health agencies.
The seminars, sponsored by the Institute for Nursing Excellence at St. Francis Medical Center, will be held on National Nurses Day, May 6, at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.
Registration is scheduled for 7:45-8:15 a.m., with seminar activities set for 8:15 a.m.-2:30 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break at 11 a.m.
Guest lecturer during the day will be Camille Wade Maurice, an internationally known speaker, author and humorist whose presentations are designed to help people feel good about themselves, their jobs and their co-workers.
During her morning presentation, titled "Shuffle, Shift & Swerve," Maurice will look at the changes that are taking place in today's health-care arena and ways that those changes can be viewed as "opportunities."
Her afternoon program, "Pulling Together," will focus on what it takes to build teamwork in the workplace and how teamwork can work to cope during times of stress and change.
The seminars have been approved for six continuing education units through the Missouri Nurses Association. Registration fee is $35 for non-St. Francis employees and $10 for full-time students.
Those planning to attend are asked to preregister by April 19 by calling St. Francis Education Department at 339-6107.
