A seminar designed to teach children how to approach dogs is being held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m. to noon at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

The seminar is entitled, "I Like Children -- But: Children and Dogs Mini Seminar", and is to be presented by Marilyn Olson Neville.

Children ages 5 and up can attend this seminar. Its purpose is to teach children when to approach dogs, how to approach dogs, and how to deal with stray dogs who approach them.

Neville will bring one of her dogs to demonstrate the correct method to approach and pet a dog. All the children will be able to interact with this dog. The seminar is designed to teach children to respect a dog's territory.
