Sales during 1992 and the first month of 1993 have been strong at the Cape Girardeau Sears store, according to manager Graeme Wilson.
"We had the highest sales increase in the district last year," said Wilson. "And, we're off to a good 1993. Our January sales are 18.5 percent over January of a year ago. Business has been great."
The Cape store is one of more than 850 Sears stores that will remain open following an announcement of store closings last week. A total of 113 stores will close. The company also announced that it was discontinuing catalog sales.
