Carpet and furniture cleaning service is now available through the Cape Girardeau Sears store. Rick and Cyndi Smith are providing the service.
"We clean carpets and upholstered furniture," said Rick Smith. "We can dry clean furniture with delicate fabrics. And we can dry clean drapery on site." The business also provides restoration service for smoke, flood and fire damage. Following flood water damage, they remove the water, use blowers and dehumidifiers to remove moisture and clean damaged carpeting and furniture.
The Smith's do commercial and private work and provide free estimates.
They used the Bane-Clene carpet cleaning system. "It is a warm water extraction process," Smith said. "The carpet backing doesn't get wet so your carpet dries faster. About 95 percent of the moisture is removed." The process uses its own supply of softened water. The water and cleaning equipment is carried in a van and remains outside the customer's site. Smith has been certified with Bane-Clene since 1984 and is involved with its ongoing training program.
He has been involved in the carpet cleaning business 15 years. The Smith's operated C.R. Cleaners, which offered dry cleaning and carpet cleaning, in Fredericktown. The couple and their three sons are moving to Jackson. He was involved with a Steamatic carpet cleaning franchise previously.
Smith approached the local Sears store recently with the proposal of providing carpet cleaning and was put in touch with officials in Sears Chicago office. The resulting contract was recently approved by all the parties.
"The cleaning work is backed by Sears and satisfaction is guaranteed," Smith said.
