CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A 65-year-old man died after his boat capsized at his favorite fishing spot in a slough off the Mississippi River.
The Missouri State Water Patrol said the body of Carl Tanksley of East Prairie, Mo., was found Wednesday night 10 yards from where his capsized boat was found Tuesday.
Officer Dave Nelson said authorities dragged the waters in the 12-foot-deep slough, a back area of flooded timber not in the main river channel. He said trees and an island stand between the slough and the river.
Family members became alarmed when Tanksley didn't return from fishing Tuesday.
The cause of death has not been determined.
