SIKESTON, Mo. — The Sikeston Regional Chamber and Sikeston Department of Economic Development soon will be merged under one chief executive — once the right person is found.
The merger and search for a CEO to lead regional economic development efforts was announced last week after the plan’s approval by the board of directors for the chamber and department, according to Larry Eby, president of the regional chamber’s board of directors.
“It is effective as soon as we hire the CEO,” Eby said of the merger.
Board members hope to gather a good number of candidates over the next 30 to 45 days “and begin interviews after that,” Eby said.
Eby said the salary for this new position has not been determined, but board members will consider qualifications and the additional responsibilities the new CEO will have.
“It will require a highly qualified, highly motivated individual,” he said.
