BENTON, Mo. -- Scott County again will welcome a couple of hundred county officials.

County Recorder Tara Mason on Tuesday said Scott County has been confirmed as the location for the Recorders' Association of Missouri's annual conference in April 2015.

Mason advised the county commission on April 10 that the county had been voted as the location for the 2015 conference, but she was waiting on the site committee to make it official.

"We did get approved to have it," Mason said.

In September 2010, the Missouri County Clerks Association and Election Authorities held their annual conference at the city of Miner's Convention Center in Scott County.

Mason has indicated she also intends to hold her association's convention there.

"The surrounding counties are all together on this," Mason said. "We have decided the more we can get done ahead of time the better off we will be. We're already looking into booking entertainment for our banquet and some of the speakers for our training sessions."

Mason said doing what they can in advance will result in being better prepared to handle last-minute details that sometimes come up when hosting a large event.

"We are just looking into everything we can do in the Sikeston area to bring more attention to things, to what Sikeston offers," she said. "Hopefully we'll get people to come back and visit another time."
