BENTON - Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell said that inmates at the Scott County Jail in Benton would be treated to a traditional Thanksgiving meal at noon today.
Ferrell said the menu would consist of turkey, dressing, gravy, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. This has been a tradition at the jail since Ferrell took office in 1977. It is provided at the sheriff's expense.
The sheriff said he provides the meal to somewhat soften the pain for inmates separated from their families at a normally festive time of year.
