BENTON -- The Scott County Sheriff's Department is sponsoring a $500 scholarship available to students interested in pursuing a criminal justice major in college.

High school seniors who are in the upper 50 percent of their graduating classes, who can demonstrate financial need and have been active in extra-curricular activities in high school are encouraged to apply.

Those who are interested should write to the Missouri Sheriff's Association, 229 Madison, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101, to receive an application. Completed forms should be returned by May 14.
