BENTON, Mo. -- A Benton man was in the Scott County Jail on Thursday for alleged statutory sodomy, according to a Scott County Sheriff's Department news release. Gregory H. McElroy, 44, was charged with first-degree statutory sodomy for allegedly abusing an 11-year-old girl. According to the release, the sheriff's department learned of the abuse after being called to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., on Thursday morning and speaking with the alleged victim there. The abuse is alleged to have occurred Oct. 3. Bond was set at $100,000 cash-only.
