The Kelly school board sought the bond because the district's enrollment has outgrown the current high school's capacity, said school superintendent Don Abner.

According to Abner, the proposed high school would have allowed for future expansion of at least 500 students -- including 20 new classrooms, a multipurpose area, science lab and educational storage.

The bond was proposed by a building committee of faculty, parents and students and called for a repayment period of 20 years.
