BENTON, Mo. -- Two key positions in Scott County will become open as the new year begins.
The Standard Democrat reported Joel Evans turned in his resignation as county developer and emergency management director to county commissioners during their regular meeting Tuesday.
"I've accepted a position as the chief operational officer at DAEOC in Portageville," Evans said. "I want to thank the residents of Scott County for the opportunity to have served them over the past five years."
"I'm very happy for him and I think he'll do an excellent job," commissioner Dennis Ziegenhorn said. "Joel is very qualified at everything he does -- he's done an excellent job for the county in every position that he's held. He will be a loss to the county without a question. We wish Joel and his family all the success in the world that this job will bring him."
The resignation becomes effective Jan. 7.
