Sheriff's deputies arrested two people Friday afternoon in connection with the discovery of a meth lab in southern Scott County, Sheriff Rick Walter said Saturday.
Deputies discovered the lab when they responded to call of a strong chemical smell coming from a residence in Scott County, Walter said.
Two males at the suspect residence denied any involvement of narcotics activity and gave deputies written consent to search the residence. On searching the home, deputies found numerous items used in manufacturing methamphetamine as well as methamphetamine and crack cocaine, Walter said.
Michael R Berry Jr., 39, of Sikeston, Mo., was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and felony possession drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only. The other person taken into custody has not been charged, Walter said.
