The Scott County Commission wants Scott County residents to know about the free Scrap Tire Collection program being conducted through June 29. According to a news release issued by the commission, scrap tires can be brought to the Scott County Highway Department, at 497 Charleston St. in Benton, Mo., between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. There will be a limit of 25 auto or pickup tires per household, including up to four farm-tractor tires. There should be no solid, foam or liquid-filled tires. Tires on rims will be accepted, but tires from commercial businesses will not be accepted. The last day for collection will be between 8 a.m. and noon Saturday, June 29.

The collection is open to Scott County residents only. For more information, call Norman Brant, Highway Superintendent, at 545-3951.
