A shopping trip ended with a spur-of-the-moment decision that changed a Scott City woman's life.

After an afternoon of errands, Johnne Griffin, 61, stopped at Reeve's Boomland, 6399 Highway 77 in Benton, Mo., before heading to her Scott City home. Moments after the mother-of-four bought a Missouri Lottery Silver Bells Scratchers ticket, she was left "staring in shock" at a $100,000 prize.

"It was really surreal," said Griffin. "I never experienced anything like that. I sat in the car for 10 minutes hyperventilating."

After calming down enough to speak, the retired X-ray technician called her husband at work to share the news.

The couple made plans for the money, including paying off bills, tithing at church, helping their children and grandchildren and investing.
