A Scott City woman was in Southeast Missouri Hospital Wednesday night after a one-car accident in Scott County.
Shareen Lands, 46, was driving her car northbound on Route A one mile south of Chaffee at 3:25 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road, and struck a ditch and several trees, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
At 9 p.m., she was in the emergency room at Southeast Hospital expecting to be admitted for a fractured vertebra in her lower back, a friend of hers said.
Her 5-year-old granddaughter, Katrina Schiwetz, was a passenger in her car. She had a scratched elbow and was treated and released.
Both were wearing their seat belts, according to the highway patrol.
