SCOTT CITY -- Jennifer Bertrand, a senior at Scott City High School, has been chosen as a semi-finalist in the 1991-92 Coca-Cola scholarship competition. She is one of 1,860 semi-finalists chosen from more than 92,000 applicants.
"In our Coca-Cola scholars, we are searching for a balance of leadership, character and achievement in school and the community," said Lanny Gibson, vice president of sales for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Jonesboro, Ark., local sponsor of the competition.
Bertrand is the only semi-finalist from the area. From the semi-finalists, 150 scholars will be chosen to compete nationally in Atlanta, Ga. in April. Fifty national scholars will receive $5,000 annually and 100 regional scholars will receive $1,000 annually for college. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years.
Bertrand is the daughter of Larry and Connie Bertrand.
