The Scott City School Board on Wednesday will review and discuss an updated comprehensive school improvement plan and proposed graduation requirements for the district.

Beth Cox, president of the board, said a committee that includes teachers, parents, board members and other residents looks for improvements that could be made to the plan.

Cox said the goals outlined in the plan are short- and long-term, and the community's involvement helps the district come up with ideas to meet or exceed its goals.

The committee's chairperson will detail the updates at Wednesday's 6:30 p.m. board meeting.

The board also will review an adoption of proposed graduation requirements.

"We will look at what the state requires and the classes that are required for graduating," Cox said. "And we'll look at whether or not we want to make any changes based upon our planning for goals that we have set for our curriculum."

The board then plans to adopt the 2015-2016 school calendar, which includes holidays and other vacation schedules for the district.

"We have a calendar committee every year that comes up with proposals, and then they vote on it and let us know what they prefer," Cox said.

The board will then renew its contract with Opaa! Food Management -- a K-12 food provider headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Cox said the contract always is reviewed by the board in February.
