In part, the resolution recognizes the Certificate of Merit Award bestowed on Scott City by the Missouri Community Betterment Program, the Caboose Project and the efforts of the Scott City Chamber of Commerce, the Historic Preservation Commission and several other civic organizations.

"The residents of Scott City are justifiably proud of their town's rich heritage and the uniqueness of the area in which they live," the resolution reads.

In presenting the resolution to the City Council, Davidson applauded the cooperative effort of the city government and civic leaders in bringing about the recognition.

"We are a community. It is all of us together who do things," Davidson said.
