SCOTT CITY -- Several activities are planned over this weekend for the Mid-Summer Festival.
Events will start off 6 p.m. on Friday with the band Renegade Sound performing at Scott City Community Park. The band will perform until midnight.
In between, two contests will be held. A Little Mr. and Miss contest starts at 7 p.m., followed by a Karaoke contest.
At 9 a.m. on Saturday the festival's first-ever frisbee golf tournament will start registration. Competition will be split into two divisions: 16 years and under, and 17 and older. Registration will take place at the horseshoe building at the park.
At 9:30 a.m., people and floats will start lining up at the IGA grocery store parking lot. The parade will start at 10 a.m., and it is open to any floats that register with the park office prior to the event.
At noon registration for a horseshoe tournament will begin. Later in the day at 5 p.m., a youth talent show is scheduled, to be followed by a senior talent show.
At 7:30 that evening, the Miss Summer Teen contest takes place, sponsored by the Scott City Women's Club. This will be followed by music from the band Jukebox.
After 10 p.m., there will be a fireworks display.
