Robert L. Grant pled guilty Friday to involuntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of 23-year-old Chad Chaney of Scott City.

Grant, who is also from Scott City, was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Grant was originally accused of stabbing Chaney and four others at a party in rural Scott County in July of 2004. The altercation took place in an area outside Scott City known as Red Gate on County Road 301.

Chaney died en route to a hospital.

The case was heard in Dent County on a change of venue. Scott County prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd and public defender Jacob Zimmerman were not available for comment.
