A Scott City man was issued two citations after his vehicle overturned and caught on fire on Interstate 55 late Monday.

A Scott City man was issued two citations after his vehicle overturned and caught on fire on Interstate 55 late Monday.

According to James Zeidler of the Cape Girardeau Police Department Cody McNeely, 19, of Scott City was driving his vehicle when it ran off the southbound lane of the interstate around 10 p.m.

McNeely overcorrected the vehicle, hit a guardrail and overturned near mile marker 95. The vehicle caught on fire, though the Cape Girardeau Fire Department put out the fire shortly after it started.

McNeely was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment of injuries.

Cpl. Adam Glueck of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said McNeely was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor and driving while intoxicated.
