A Scott City man broke six windows and a refrigerator and created holes in the wall of his ex-girlfriend’s trailer after she said she did not want to see him again, police said.
Scott City police arrested Robert C. Graff, 28, on Wednesday. The Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s office charged Graff with second-degree burglary and first-degree property damage. His bond was set at $1,000, cash only.
Graff and his ex-girlfriend communicated through text message earlier Wednesday; Graff questioned whether she was at work, and she replied she was tired of fighting and she did not want to see him again, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed by Scott City police officer Travis Sheppard.
When she returned home to the trailer she rents in the 1300 block of East Mar-Elm Boulevard, she found several windows were broken, Sheppard wrote. Inside, cat food was thrown throughout the residence, holes were in a wall, a microwave oven was laying on the kitchen floor and the refrigerator was damaged, according to the affidavit.
The owner of the apartment estimated the total damage at $1,350, Sheppard wrote.
Sheppard arrested Graff at his residence in the 100 block of Hickory Street, according to the affidavit.
Graff waived his Miranda rights and told Graff he entered the trailer by “popping” the door open, Sheppard wrote. He admitted he put holes in the wall and broke the windows, although he could not remember his method of destruction, according to the affidavit.
