SCOTT CITY -- Laura Johnston, a senior at Scott City High School, has been named a recipient of a Regent's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next year.
The Regent's Scholarship is awarded to high-school seniors who are in the top 10 percent of their graduating class and score above the 90th percentile on the ACT or SAT. The scholarship covers tuition and is renewable.
Johnston is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Student Council, and is the editor of the school newspaper. She is the recipient of the Danforth "I Dare You" Award and has been named the Student of the Month by the Breakfast Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau.
Johnston is the daughter of Michael and Sharon Johnston of Scott City. She plans to major in mass communications at Southeast.
