There will be plenty of activities for residents of Scott City to attend in August.

At the Scott City Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting Wednesday, representatives from the Boys and Girls Club, the Interactive Parks Program and school board attended the meeting to help coordinate each other's events.

Dwana Leible began the discussion of planning a "mouse race" fundraiser in October, in which they hire Triple Crown Fundraising from St. Louis to bring in a mouse track, mice and coordinate a night of rodent racing to raise money for the chamber. Dates are pending in an effort to coordinate with the disc-golf tournament Oct. 24 and the SCIPP Halloween Carnival.

From 4:30 and 6 p.m. July 30, The Bank of Missouri is hosting a meet-and-greet at the bank to welcome new Scott City School District superintendent Brian Lee and elementary school principal April Garner.

At 6 p.m. Aug. 4, the chamber will host an open house and ribbon cutting of its new facility at 1508 Main St., which it began occupying in January.

Beth Cox of Scott City's school board also brought to the chamber's attention the third annual Football 5K at 8 a.m. Aug. 8 at Scott City High School. Each year, proceeds benefit the football team, and Cox said she hoped the chamber and related businesses would be interested in sponsoring the event and being recognized on the T-shirt.
