The Scott City Council took action at its Monday night meeting that will affect building codes in the city limits. The council adopted International Code Council codes to replace the Building Officials and Code Administrators rules.

The new codes will affect structure, electrical wiring, plumbing, housing and mechanical regulations in the city. For information on the specifics of the codes, contact city hall at 264-2157.

The council also voted to prohibit parking on East Third Street between Hickory and Beech streets.

Officials from the North Scott County Ambulance District and the Scott County Sheriff's Department met with the council to discuss the possibility of a new turnaround on Interstate 55 south of Scott City.

The new turnaround would greatly reduce emergency response times on the northbound lanes of I-55 just south of the city.

Mayor Tim Porch made the following appointments to city boards:

* Stephanie Pruitt, Manola Smith and Linda McKinley were appointed to three-year terms on the Historical Preservation Board.

* Carolyn Pendergrass was appointed to a four-year term with the Planning and Zoning Commission.
