SCOTT CITY -- The City Council voted Monday night to restrict parking and outdoor advertisement along the part of Nash Road that is within the city limits as part of an agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Department.

The highways department will soon begin the third phase of the Nash Road improvement project, which involves paving and widening the road from Interstate 55 east one mile. Barry Horst, district design engineer with the highways department, said a left turn lane, storm gutters and concrete curbs will be added to Nash Road through the commercial district.

To further facilitate the flow of traffic the highways department has asked that parking be restricted along that one-mile route.

The City Council has also taken action to slow traffic along another city road, this in response to a request by Scott City Police Chief Danny Clubb.

Clubb researched an area of Mar Elm Road leading to a trailer court and asked the City Council to enact a 10-mph speed limit through there. City Clerk Nona Walls said Clubb asked for the reduced speed limit because of the number of children residing in the area and the fact that Mar Elm is a dusty gravel road.
