Scott City Council action
* The city council passed an ordinance 7-0 to accept easements in the plat for Deer Run, a two-lot subdivision at the south end of Chelsea Drive owned by Jim McConnell. Ward 3 Councilman Kirk Lewis was absent.
Old business
* Bids for the demolition of a dangerous structure at 123 Cherry St. were referred to committee pending purchase of the property by a private individual.
Other items
* Fire chief Jay Cassout discussed signing an automatic mutual aid agreement with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department for calls on Nash Road. Under the agreement, each department would automatically respond to all calls on Nash Road and share equipment. The council gave Cassout the verbal go-ahead to sign the agreement.
* Police chief Don Cobb announced the police department received a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant of about $5,500 to pay for new bulletproof vests for active officers.
