SCOTT CITY -- Nona Walls, city and court clerk of Scott City, has been named to the committee for the certification of Missouri court clerks.
Walls, city and court clerk since 1983, received the appointment at the annual convention of the Missouri Association of Court Administrators held May 21-24 at Lake of the Ozarks.
The committee is working toward requiring all court clerks in the state to be required to be certified, Walls said. "We will base this certification on education and experience," she said. "The idea began two years ago."
Walls, a charter member of the Missouri Association of Court Administrators, was one of 162 court clerks who attended the four-day convention. She also attended the state city clerk's convention in March.
The convention also included sessions with a Missouri assistant attorney general and open discussions with some of the state's prosecuting attorneys and judges.
Walls said the organization meets each year to work on unifying procedures used in the state's municipal courts, such as keeping the books and handling tickets.
