The filing period for April municipal and school board elections will be next month in Chaffee and Scott City.

Candidates for city alderman or school board in both communities may file between Jan. 4 and Feb. 1. School board members serve three-year terms and aldermen two-year terms.

Candidates for the four vacancies on the Chaffee Board of Aldermen file at the office of the city clerk between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Candidates for the two vacancies on the Chaffee Board of Education file at the office of the school superintendent at Chaffee High School.

Chaffee school board members whose terms expire in April are Larry Myer and Dale Tierney. Both are completing their second, two-year terms. In addition, each has served one-year unexpired terms of former board members who resigned.

Chaffee aldermen whose terms expire in April are: Ward 1, Jerry Wolsey, who is completing his second term; Ward 2, Wayne Crippen, who is completing the one-year, unexpired term of Marlene Creech; Ward 3, Ron Eskews, who is completing his first term; and Ward 4, Brad Bader, who is completing his first term.

Eskew and Bader also served one-year, unexpired terms on the board prior to being elected to full terms.

In Scott City, aldermen whose terms expire in April are: Ward 1, LaDona Phelps, who is completing her first term; Ward 2, John Rogers, who is completing his second term; Ward 3, Ron Oller, completing his second term; and Ward 4, Terry Johnston, completing his first term.

Scott City school board members whose terms expire in April are Jerry Petitt and Robert "Pete" Wadlington. Each has served four, three-year terms. Petitt also served a one-year, unexpired term, for a total of 13 years.

Candidates for the Scott City Board of Alderman may file at the office of the city clerk at Scott City Hall. School board candidates file at the office of the school superintendent.
