SCOTT CITY -- Scott City's annual Mid-Summer Festival has been canceled this year because the city was unable to book kiddie rides for the festival, said Phyliss Spinks, parks director.
The festival is normally held in mid-June. It is considered to be the biggest event of the summer in the town and would have been in its 16th year.
City officials are considering holding an Octoberfest instead.
Spinks said the company that usually provides the rides at the Summerfest changed owners.
"By the time we tried to book another company, everyone was already booked," she said.
The Summerfest was a two-day event that included a parade, contests, rides and musical entertainment.
If an Octoberfest is held, Spinks said it may be a one-day event with a parade, games and contests. It would be held in the city park.
