MORLEY -- The Scott County Central Board of Education hired a husband-wife team for its new high-school principal and elementary teacher during a recent board meeting.

High School principal Jerry Crites will retire at the end of the school year.

Stan Whitson will become high school principal June 30. He has 26 years of experience as an administrator in the Lesterville, Mountain View, Winfield and Greenville school districts.

His wife, Judy Whitson, was hired as an elementary teacher in the district.

In other action, the board adopted the Missouri Model Guidance program and revised its board policies and administrative regulations, including job descriptions.

Summer schools will start May 28 and will offer both remedial and enrichment courses.

Any student who scores in low percentages on the Missouri Mastery and Achievement Tests will be encouraged to attend summer school, the board said.

The school board meets April 8 to reorganize following the April 2 election.
