L.J. Schultz Middle School has been selected as one of 100 Missouri school districts to join the second phase of the statewide "Math Attack."
"Math Attack" is an effort to upgrade instruction and student performance in mathematics. It began last year.
The project will help teachers and their principals evaluate and redesign curriculum and instructional practices to improve students skills and attitudes towards mathematics.
Myrnita Grantham and Kathy Berkbigler, mathematics teachers at Schultz, and Carolyn Vandeven, principal at the school, will attend a symposium on seventh-grade mathematics in Columbia June 17-21.
Four regional follow-up meetings for symposium participants will be held during the 1991-92 school year, and a consultant will be assigned to each group to provide assistance throughout the year.
