The 1996 Paw staff has won five national awards and 14 state awards in this 11th year of publication. The Paw is the student newspaper at Louis J. Schultz School in Cape Girardeau.
Among the awards is the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association's All-Missouri rating which is the state journalism association's highest overall ranking.

Rose received two national awards for her May 1995 column, "Katie-bird's farewell." She received the Gold Key for Excellence and Quill and Scroll's Sweepstakes Award, as the single top national entry in the column-writing category.
