Schools across the country have seen incidents of hate speech and vandalism in the wake of last week’s presidential election.
From “whites only” messages scrawled on a bathroom door in an Illinois high school to “build a wall” chants in a Michigan middle school, tensions are high among some youth.
But no such hostility is happening in Southeast Missouri schools, according to Merideth Pobst, director of communications at the Jackson School District; Dana Saverino, communications director for the Cape Girardeau School District; and Brian Lee, superintendent of the Scott City School District.
The school officials all said this week no instances of hate speech have been reported to school administration since the election.
