Voters will have another chance to consider the growing needs of the Jackson R-2 School District. The R-2 Board voted last week to put a $6 million bond issue on the August ballot.
If passed, the bond issue would fund 18 new class rooms, a new gym/multipurpose building, more air conditioning and a bigger kitchen at the junior high, as well as other improvements. A 40-cent increase in the district's operating levy will also be on the August ballot.
The August proposals will focus primarily on the overcrowded junior high facility. Board members believe this should give it a better chance at passing.
The district, meanwhile, will be getting a new $20,000 press box, courtesy of the Tribal Council Booster Club. The 12 by 28 feet steel-skinned press box would be about twice a big as the current one.
