"Counseling -- A Kaleidoscope of Caring" was theme of the 46th annual Missouri School Counselor Association Fall Conference. The group met at Lake of the Ozarks this month.
Local counselors attending were drug-free school coordinator Bill Askew; high school counselor Pat Trickey; junior high counselor Tom Berkbigler; Jane Bridges of May Greene Elementary; Tim Ward of Franklin Elementary; and Betty Deardorff of Jefferson Elementary.
At the conference, Askew co-facilitated a how-to workshop with Tom Barlow, associate director of the Midwest office for drug-free schools. They presented a program titled "Children of Alcoholics: A Workshop for School Staff." The workshop included strategies in identification, referral and developing school-based assistance programs.
