The Woodland School District superintendent’s office said the school was in lockdown Wednesday, beginning about 1:45 p.m., because a police pursuit was occurring nearby.
The lockdown ended about 2:15 p.m., and students went home at the normal time, said a representative at the office who declined to give her name.
The lockdown was caused by an unrelated police incident near the school.
The Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies apprehended Iris Marie Nanney, 31, about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies were pursuing Nanney, who was driving on County Road 500 in a Chevrolet S-10, based on reports from confidential informants she was involved with drug dealing in Bollinger County, Sheriff Darin Shell said.
Shell said the sheriff’s office will recommend charges of felony distribution of a controlled substance, resisting arrest by fleeing and assault on a law-enforcement officer. The potential assault charge stems from a motor vehicle collision during the chase, Shell said.
Shell did not provide more details because the Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Nanney left the vehicle and fled into the woods on foot about one mile west of Highway 34. She also left a handgun in the vehicle, Shell said.
Shell was unsure of Nanney’s criminal history or whether she illegally possessed a firearm.
