The Cape Girardeau Board of Education is set to discuss a possible waiver of the district's Proposition C tax rollback and a redistricting planning process.

The school board meets today at 5 p.m. at 61 N. Clark.

Board members said they would like to see a request to waive Cape Girardeau's 37-cent Proposition C rollback on a June ballot. That money would be used, in part, for maintenance.

In November, the board is looking at an $8 million bond issue to build a new elementary school at the Sprigg and Bertling site. That $8 million bond issue translates to about 25 cents per $100 assessed valuation.

Part of this process would require redrawing elementary school boundary lines. The planning process for this redistricting is on the Monday agenda for study.

Other agenda items include a retirement incentive plan and employment of tenured teachers.
