Following an hour-long closed door meeting, members of the Cape Girardeau School District Board of Education said they welcome public comments on Superintendent Neyland Clark's performance.
Those comments will be considered during Clark's upcoming evaluation.
The board took no action concerning the superintendent's contract at the noon meeting Monday.
In a statement read by board member Lyle Davis, the board asked that all comments be made in writing to the board. Clark will be evaluated during the annual board planning session, Aug. 5-7 in St. Louis.
About a dozen people waited in the school office lobby while the board meet. Clark didn't attend the meeting.
A group of concerned parents are circulating a petition calling for Clark's resignation. Another group is rallying support for the embattled superintendent.
