Douglas and Heather MacDonald Greene will receive the 2010 Friend of the University Award from the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
The couple, who live in Vancouver, Wash., and Rancho Mirage, Calif., will receive the award today at the President's Council reception. The Greenes founded scholarships and supported projects at the River Campus and Kent Library.
Douglas Greene, whose late first wife was a Southeast alumna, established the Janet Paar Greene Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded to an English student. Two other scholarships are awarded annually to a student in the entrepreneurship field and an undergraduate in the fine arts program.
Douglas Greene, a businessman who worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 13 years, later owned remote control and infrared technology businesses. He has participated in Southeast's Global Entrepreneurship Week. His wife worked in business, fashion and film.
The couple also donated money to support the Heather MacDonald Greene Multi-Media Center in Kent Library and a traveling exhibition gallery in Crisp Museum.
They will be honored at a reception at 6:30 p.m. in the Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus.
