Dr. James Brooks, a scholar with the School of American Research in Santa Fe, N.M., will deliver the annual Veryl Riddle Distinguished History Lecture on Feb. 11 at Southeast Missouri State University.
Brooks will speak on "Slavery, Kinship and Community in the American Southwest" at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
The event is free and open to the public.
The lecture series is named for Veryl Riddle, a prominent St. Louis lawyer who was born and raised on a farm in Dunklin County and attended Southeast for two years.
