After having a perfect regular season last year, the Delta Bobcats came into Saturday's championship game at Chaffee's Red Devil Invitational girls basketball tournament in the unfamiliar position of underdog.

But with players like Sara Blattel taking on bigger roles this season to replace the standouts who graduated, the Bobcats look to be in good shape.

Blattel scored 13 points in the final as Delta upended top-seeded Kelly 40-28 in a game where points where at a premium and the Delta defense dominated.

"Kelly has a lot of quickness," Blattel said. "A key was stopping their penetration."

Kelly cracked double figures in only one quarter of the game.

For Blattel, the performance followed a 20-point effort she had to lead the Bobcats in a 47-35 semifinal victory against Oran.
