JACKSON - Paul W. Sander, 35, of 619 Donna Drive, has announced plans to file for re-election to the Jackson Board of Aldermen. Sander, who has five years experience on the board, is completing his second term representing Ward 1.

In announcing plans to run again, Sander said he believes the city has made good progress the last few years, has maintained a sound fiscal condition, and is in position to continue its growth and development in the future.

He said: "We have accomplished a lot in Jackson the past few years. The completion of Highway 61 is a big plus for Jackson. We purchased around 38 acres of new city park land this year to add to our beautiful park system, we have a new waste-water plant in Jackson, and we try to keep our streets in good shape and our town clean and orderly.

"I feel we have a good sense of cooperation between (board) members, city employees, and all the citizens of Jackson. I am very familiar with the yearly budget process, which is very important in these times of tight fiscal budgets."

Sander said, if re-elected, he would continue being responsive to the needs of citizens and willing to hear their comments.

"I will continue to push for road improvements as money allows, and will strive to keep Jackson in the good financial position that it now holds," said Sander. "Jackson is a growing community and I feel orderly growth and consistent zoning practices are important to us all.

"As always, I will represent every citizen on an equal basis and will give the time required to be an effective member of the (board). It is a pleasure to serve the citizens of Jackson as one of your councilmen. Our town is on the move, and I am proud to be a small part of Jackson's future."

Sander, a lifetime resident of Jackson, is the son of Cape County Commissioner Leonard Sander and Aleene Sander of Jackson. He and his wife, Pam, have one child, Sam, 2.

In 1987 Sander received the Distinguished Service Award from the Jackson Jaycees for outstanding service to Jackson.

Sander is vice president of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, a member of New McKendree Methodist Church, the Jackson Jaycees, a member and PER of the Jackson Elks, a member of the Jackson High All Sports Booster Club, and public address announcer for Jackson varsity football.
