The Cape Girardeau Salvation will announce results of its capital building campaign during its annual civic and victory dinner to be held at the Drury Lodge Monday.

"This will be a time of celebration," said Capt. Elmer Trapp. "The building fund campaign has been a successful one, thanks to the leadership of Fred R. `Rock' and Judy Wilferth, who were co-chairmen of the capital campaign."

The Salvation Army kicked off a million-dollar, capital campaign for a new building in March of 1992. The new, 17,200 square foot building will be constructed near the South Sprigg-Good Hope intersection in Cape Girardeau.

A model of the new building will be on display at the annual meeting.

During the annual meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m., the Salvation Army will recognize its supporters, which include service clubs, businesses, organizations and individuals.

"There will also be an announcement of a program which will be of interest to the people of Cape Girardeau," said Trapp.

Maj. David Grindle, divisional secretary of the Midland Division of Salvation Army, with headquarters in St. Louis, will be guest speaker Monday night.

The Salvation Army's present building, which formerly housed the Farmers & Merchants Bank, has more than 6,000 square feet, only 4,200 square feet is usable space for the Salvation Army.

The planned new facility consists of a large, multipurpose room, kitchen, nursery, chapel, library, classroom, fellowship room and administrative offices. It will be called the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center.
