The Cape Girardeau County Senior Information Day will be on Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral gym, at the corner of William and South Sprigg streets.
The day will start with a gathering at 9:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 10 a.m. A free lunch will be provided for the first 100 people to register by calling 335-3331.
This special day will be presented by the Cape Girardeau County SALT Council. The purpose of the SALT Council, or Seniors and Lawmen Together, is to promote communication and interaction between seniors and law enforcement in the community. Attendees will have an opportunity to talk with local law enforcement officers, ask them questions and share their concerns in an informal setting. Many providers of services for seniors will have booths with information about their services and how to access them.
The keynote speaker will be state Sen. Jason Crowell. Also, there will be four break-out sessions over identity theft, seniors and police, services for seniors and the new Medicare prescription drug program.
