Safes, cash taken from Cape Girardeau businesses

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is investigating burglaries at four businesses in one building Tuesday night.

According to department spokesman Darin Hickey, the businesses that were burglarized -- Covenant Hospice, Soto Property Solutions, Colour Couture and Bo Shantz Insurance -- are all in the same office complex at 1213 N. Kingshighway. All four businesses received property damage to their doorways from someone trying to break in. Three businesses reported an undisclosed amount of missing cash, some of which was kept in small safes that were stolen from two of the businesses, Hickey said.

Police took a report about the burglaries about 6 a.m. Wednesday. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to contact the police department at 573-335-6621 or Crime Stoppers at 573-339-6312.
