HAMLIN, Ky. -- A rural Doniphan woman drowned in Kentucky Lake early Sunday after the boat in which she was riding capsized.
The body of Carolyn Sue Wilson, 37, was recovered after daylight Sunday.
The Kentucky State Police said Wilson was on a boat with her friend, Roger Workman. Also on the boat was his father, Buddy Workman, with his wife, Belinda Gale Workman.
The four left Boyd's Branch Launching Ramp and headed south toward Paris Landing Saturday evening. When they returned later that night, they encountered waves, which capsized and overturned the boat.
All four were thrown into the water and had to cling to the side of the boat. Wilson drowned while attempting to swim to shore.
After daylight, Buddy Workman swam to shore for help, state police said.
