Four people were injured Tuesday evening in a rollover accident near exit 99 on Interstate 55. The accident occurred around 8 p.m. and involved a Chevrolet Suburban traveling south. According to Sgt. Rick Schmidt of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the wreck was caused by a blown tire, leading to the driver losing control and the vehicle overturning on an embankment. All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to a hospital. Schmidt said the victims were conscious and able to speak with emergency personnel.
