Court records show that Gary Lee Roll pleaded guilty Aug. 30, 1993, in Boone County Circuit Court to three counts of first-degree murder for killing Curtis, Randy, and Sherry Scheper in their Cape Girardeau home on Aug. 9, 1992. They also show that on Nov. 16, 1993, Circuit Judge Frank Conley sentenced Roll to death on each of the three counts of murder. None of the charges was dropped.
Stories in Sunday's edition about the murders and Roll's impending execution incorrectly listed the number of murder counts to which Roll pleaded guilty.
